Evelyn M. Simmons

Evelyn M. Simmons was born on December 18, 1930 in New York City to parents George and Estelle Batum and seven sisters. She passed away peacefully at Glendale Nursing Facility in Naugatuck, CT on November 12, 2025 at the age of 94.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Sharon Gagnon; grandchildren, Jos Gagnon and his fiancée Jen Duval, Shauna Gagnon and her husband Richard Lopez and Marc Gagnon and his wife Karisa. Evelyn was great-grandmother to Nate and Jaxson Lopez and Nicholas Gagnon. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and was always fondly remembered by her niece Diane Squitieri. And let's not forget her granddog, Opie.

Evelyn was a creative person who enjoyed rock painting and sewing. She was always positive, happy and giving. While at Glendale, she loved attending bingo, music and most recreation programs. And of course, Evelyn spent many hours making puzzles, doing word searches and enjoying fresh air and music with her daughter.

Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Joseph Simmons; daughter, Janet Lonegan and her son, Gary Simmons.

Evelyn loved going anywhere with her daughter, Sharon and granddaughter, Shauna. "Can I go with you?" "I'll go!!" It didn't matter where. In her last moments, I'm sure her family in Heaven was holding out their hands to her and she followed into their loving arms with a smile. We will miss her.
