Eleanor Gendron

Eleanor Spurosky Gendron, 92, of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at her home in Naugatuck on December 16, 2025. She was predeceased by Milton Gendron, her loving husband of 74 years.

Eleanor was born on December 7, 1933, and raised in Union City. She spent most of her adult life in Naugatuck, where she was loved by many. A true trailblazer, she was the first women to serve as a bus driver in Naugatuck, paving the way for others to follow.

In her earlier years, she was deeply involved in her community, contributing to Cross Street School by helping to establish the school library and actively serving on the PTA . Eleanor was also an active member of the Young Democrats and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. Later, Eleanor spent many years with the Pathfinders Motorcycle Club, attending and riding Enduro’s with her husband—an adventure she embraced with enthusiasm and pride.

Above all else, Eleanor was devoted to her family. She raised seven children, an accomplishment she spoke of often and with great pride. Her home was filled with laughter, conversation, and connection. It was a gathering place for the neighborhood, young and old. Eleanor loved socializing with friends and family, drinking her occasional espresso martini, and watching Everybody Loves Raymond, a show that reflected her appreciation for humor and everyday life.

Eleanor will be remembered for her witty banter, sweet sense of humor, her independent spirit, warmth, and her unwavering dedication to her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, involvement, and love that will live on through all who knew her.

Eleanor is survived by her children Gary Gendron (Enid), Kevin Gendron (Theresa), Lori Cosgrove, Denis Gendron (Trudie), Denise Ball (Douglas), Dani Gendron, Cheryl Patricolo (Joseph): her grandchildren Kevin Jr. (Brigit), Jamie, Ann, Amanda (Andrew), Jacob, Dustin, Brandon; her great grandchildren Nathan and Kayla; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents John and Mary (Lokites) Spurosky, she is predeceased by her sister Arline Paloski, and brother John “Jack” Spurosky.
