Edward J. Dobbins, Sr.

Cheshire - Edward J. Dobbins Sr., 92, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022 at MidState Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Patricia (Blados) Dobbins. Mr. Dobbins was born March 7, 1930 in Ansonia, the son of the late Richard and Margaret (Bergen) Dobbins.

Ed graduated Assumption School then Ansonia High School and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree in industrial management from New Haven College. He was a man who believed in God, family and country. He proudly served in Webster Hose Fire Co. Ed later enlisted in the U.S Navy to serve on the USS Salerno Bay during the Korean War. Upon his return home after an honorable discharge, he endured the great flood of 1955.

He was employed as a Computer Programmer for the Knights of Columbus.  Ed was a third degree Knights of Columbus member of Council 5 in Wallingford and was also a member of the Navy League. He additionally served on the State Supreme Council, personally welcoming Pope John Paul II to New York.

Ed enjoyed traveling to his family’s vacation home in Ft. Myers, Florida.

Mr. Dobbins is survived by his son, Edward J. Dobbins, Jr. and his wife Kristyn (Bratina) Dobbins and his granddaughter, Summer Rose Dobbins, who was his pride and joy. Ed is survived by his brother-in-law, Edward Bradley of Ansonia, CT and was predeceased by four brothers and six sisters.

Arrangements – Visitation for Mr. Dobbins will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at the Alderson-Ford funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. from 10am until 11:30 am when his funeral procession will leave the funeral home and proceed to St. Bridget of Sweden Parish-St. Bridget Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM.  Burial with military honors will follow at St. Bridget Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps., 2300 Wilson Blvd., Suite 200, Arlington, VA 22201.
