Prairie Village, KS Dr. Jean Paul Gagnon, 84, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, with his daughter by his side. His long battle with Alzheimer’s has come to an end, and he is now reunited with his beloved wife, Ann, and son, Jon, in eternal rest.
Born in Waterbury, Connecticut, on March 3, 1941, to the late Helen (Cleary) and Rock Gagnon, Jean Paul attended local schools graduating from Sacred Heart High School and earning his B.S. and M.S.in Pharmacy from the University of Connecticut, and his Ph.D. in Pharmacy Administration–Finance from The Ohio State University.
Dr. Gagnon began his career as a pharmacist before teaching at the University of Iowa and later at the University of North Carolina, where he served as Professor of Pharmacy Administration. He went on to hold leadership roles in the pharmaceutical industry with Marion Laboratories, Aventis, and Sanofi-Aventis, retiring as Senior Director in 2010.He was a respected leader in his profession, serving as President of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, Treasurer and Board Member of the United States Pharmacopeia, and as a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellow on the House Energy and Commerce Health Committee.
Jean loved spending time with his family, traveling, antiquing, and working on his prized vintage Triumph TR3.
Jean Paul is survived by his loving daughter Heather Gagnon Wong; grandchildren Zoe and Atticus Gagnon, Travers, Amelie, and Isabelle Wong; sisters-in-law Terri Krisavage and Bobbie Sgrillo; brother-in-law Frank Stack and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Ann, son Jonathon, sister Carolyn, and brother Fred.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in his name.
