It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr. Howard Martin Harmetz, who left us on September 15, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on June 14, 1945, in Brooklyn, NY, but raised in the Bronx, to the late Harry Joseph and Miriam (Rubenstein) Harmetz. Howard dedicated his life to his profession and his community, becoming a beloved figure in Cheshire, CT, where he lived for many years.

A proud graduate of New York University, Howard earned both his undergraduate and dental degrees, ultimately establishing a successful career as a Doctor of Dentistry at his practice Cheshire Dental Associates. His commitment to his patients and the art of dentistry was evident in the many lives he touched throughout his long career.

Beyond his professional achievements, Howard was a champion fencer, ranking second in the nation during his college years and achieving first place in the Tri-States during high school. He carried his competitive spirit into his adult life as an avid runner, completing an impressive 48 marathons and often seen on the scenic roads of Cheshire. His passion for fitness remained strong throughout his life, with many hours spent at the Cheshire YMCA, where he was a familiar face, often visiting twice a day.

Howard also served honorably in the United States Army, reflecting his deep sense of duty and commitment to his country. He was a cherished and longtime member of Temple Beth David in Cheshire, where his contributions and kindness will be remembered fondly by all.
