Dorothy Ann Olsen

Dorothy Ann (Dean) Olsen, born on May 4, 1937, in Oakland, CA. to the late William Emory and Dorothy Marie (Waterman) Dean, peacefully passed away on January 28, 2024, at Marbridge Assisted Living in Cheshire at the age of 86. She was the loving wife of the late Richard Olsen.

Dorothy, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Nancy LaPointe and her husband Stephen, her son Jeffrey Olsen and his wife Dawn, her grandsons Matthew LaPointe, Brian LaPointe and his wife Margaret, Michael Olsen, and her granddaughters Sarah Olsen and Kayla LaPointe. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Liliana and Luca LaPointe. She also leaves her loving companion Joseph Kazlauskas. Along with her husband and parents Dorothy was predeceased by her brother William Dean. 

She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Middletown and was a talented florist having owned Floral Creations for many years prior to her retirement. Dorothy’s faith guided her every day and her relationship with God gave her much peace. With a green thumb and a passion for nature, Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her birds in the garden and had a special fondness for dogs. She found solace in the pages of books and there was nothing better than a comforting cup of tea shared with loved ones. 

Family and friends may gather at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire 615 South Main Street   on Saturday February 3, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. with a funeral service in celebration of Dorothy’s life beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery in Middletown will be held privately. The family kindly requests that donations be made in Dorothy's memory to the Alzheimer's Association Connecticut Chapter 200 Executive Boulevard Southington, CT 06489 or to the Connecticut Humane Society 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111.
