Dorothy Martin

Dorothy Martin 94, Formerly of Prospect Towers died January 9, 2009 at the Abbott Terrace Health Center. She was the wife of the late Burnham L. Martin.

Dorothy was born in Waterbury on May 4, 1914. She was the daughter of the late James and Josephine (Sweeny) Vance. She attended Local schools. She retired from the Scovill MFG. Co after 25 years.

She leaves a daughter Irma Salvatore of Waterbury, a brother William Vance of New Britain, 2 sisters Joan Stowe of Thomaston and Marjorie Iarrapino of Waterbury. Dorothy is also survived by four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her son Vance L. Martin, her four brothers James, Thomas, Donald and Robert Vance and three sisters Gertrude Grosso, Loretta Vance and Patricia Sauvageau. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister.

The family would like to thank the staff of Abbott Terrace Health Center especially Kingsbury for the excellent care they provided for Dorothy.

A memorial mass will be celebrated in the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Church in Waterbury on Tuesday January 20, 2009 at 11AM. Burial will be at the convienence of the family. There are no calling hours. The Mulville Funeral Home 270 West Main St, Waterbury is in charge of arrangements.
