Dolores M. Guarino

Dolores M. Guarino, 82, of Cheshire, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025. Born on January 11, 1943, in New Haven, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Victoria Guarino.

To many, she was known as Dolores, but to those closest to her, she was simply Dede. A natural caregiver at heart, Dede dedicated her life to serving others. She spent her career at St. Raphael’s Hospital in New Haven, where she served with distinction as Head Nurse. Outside of her career, Dede was the kind of person you could count on—a supportive godmother, a loyal family member, and a steadfast friend.

Among those who held a special place in her heart were her Godchildren: Anthony Savo, Theresa Norrie, Jennifer D’Addio, and Dylan D’Addio—each one fortunate to have been loved by her throughout their lives. Among her closest relationships was the special bond she shared with her Godson and devoted caretaker, David D’Addio, who remained by her side with love and unwavering support throughout her later years.

She also had a soft spot for animals, especially the many Yorkshire Terriers she lovingly raised throughout her life. They brought her joy and companionship, and she treated them with the same care and attentiveness she gave to everyone else.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 615 South Main St., Cheshire, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated after visitation at 10 a.m. at St. Bridget of Sweden Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire, CT. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Ave., North Haven, CT. Memorial contributions may be made to Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd, Newington, CT 06111.
