It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Diane Recchia, 84, on August 20, 2025. Diane died in her home surrounded by family and friends. She has truly left an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew her.
Diane is the daughter of the late Albert Geloso and Carmella (SanAngelo) Geloso. She graduated from Naugatuck High School in 1959, where she played basketball and performed in the Dramatic Arts Department. She was a member of many clubs, including the Young Citizens Club, Art Club, Talent Review, and Vice President of the Pep Club. She had a great personality and loved making people laugh, and after graduating high school, she enrolled in the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. After returning to CT to care for her sick father, she became a hairdresser and owned her own salon for many years. Diane’s true love in life was taking care of her children, her family, and her friends. She was artistic and an amazing cook with a passion for entertaining and creating happy memories.
She is survived by her daughter Deanna Recchia (Langenheim) and her husband Scott Langenheim, her grandson Nico Recchia, and Gina Zaiko “longtime family member” and Nico’s mom, her sister Madeline Rotella, her best friends from childhood, Patty DeSomma, Annette Musco, and Rosalie Moffo. She also leaves nieces, nephews, and numerous family and friends to mourn her loss. She is predeceased by her son, Michael Recchia.
Arrangements - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 10:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 182 Robbins St, Waterbury, CT, 06708. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. The Buckmiller Ford Mengacci Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
