Denise Jayne (Valentine) Tanguay, age 72, passed away peacefully at home on February 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Denise was born on March 5, 1953, to the late Jane and Harold Valentine. She was predeceased by her beloved brothers, Gary, Gregg Sr., and Glenn Sr.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 46 years, Reno Tanguay — the love of her life and her greatest companion. Denise cherished every moment spent with him, especially riding on the back of his Harley. She also found peace and happiness in the mountains of New Hampshire, a place she loved dearly.
Denise is survived by her loving children: Staci (Alan) McNeil, Traci (Rob) Rager, Sean (Crystal) Toth, and Reno Tanguay Jr.; and her treasured grandchildren, Lauren (Zach) Wynne, Austin (Sara) Rager, Jared McNeil (Briana Lennon), Alissa McNeil (Derrick Jagello) Jordan Toth, and Morgan Toth. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will forever hold her memory close.
She was a devoted ophthalmic technician at Greater Waterbury Retina for many years, warmly loved by her patients and coworkers for her kindness, compassion, and the genuine connection she formed with everyone she cared for.
Denise will be remembered for her beautiful ability to make others smile, her caring and thoughtful heart, and her generosity toward anyone in need. She could effortlessly strike up a conversation with anyone - and often did.
Though Alzheimer’s slowly took pieces of her memory, it could never take away the love she gave or the legacy she leaves behind. Her spirit will live on in her family, in every shared story, and in the countless lives she touched.
She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and eternally remembered.
Arrangements - Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, from 3 to 5 pm at the Buckmiller Ford Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave, Naugatuck.
