David A. Myers

David A. Myers, 77, of Prospect, beloved husband of Margaret “Meg” Myers, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025 after a long illness.

David was born on February 24, 1948 in Troy, NY, the son of the late Raeburn and Irene Myers. After attending Lansingburgh High School in Troy, NY, David attended SUNY Oneonta in Oneonta, NY, where he graduated with a degree in Political Science. David often spoke of his time working on the railroad while in college and beyond as a safety inspector and “car knocker”. Later in life, he attributed his dislike of the cold to his hours of working outside on the railroad in the freezing cold!

David later attended Siena College where he prepared for a career in accounting. In the late 1970’s, David came to Connecticut to join Pratt & Whitney (UTC) in East Hartford as part of their financial department. He enjoyed a 33-year long career at Pratt & Whitney until his retirement in 2012.

David enjoyed traveling with his wife Meg, particularly in Maine. The couple spent many happy days together in Ogunquit and Bar Harbor, and David especially enjoyed exploring the hiking trails and harbors in Acadia National Park. He also enjoyed photography, and relished time spent snapping photos of his grandchildren, who affectionally referred to him as “Grop.” David was a devoted grandfather who could be found down on the floor building with blocks, drawing and painting with the children and making them laugh with his silly jokes, winks and songs.

David also felt a deep connection to Spring Glen Church, where he was a faithful member for more than 20 years. He looked forward to morning bible study, listening to the choir rehearse, and contributing his time to many committees. He especially enjoyed his time as Deacon and Senior Deacon.

However, David probably felt most at home at Lake Hayward where he spent many, many summers for more than 20 years. He biked, kayaked and walked the 4 mile perimeter of the lake many times. In recent years, David enjoyed the view from the deck, the many wonderful neighbors on Forest Way and the sounds of his grandchildren laughing and splashing in their “Shiny Lake!”

David leaves behind his wife Meg Myers, stepdaughter Amanda C. Nugent and her husband Daniel, his cherished grandchildren Vivienne, Scarlett and Callum Nugent, Niece Jodie Doherty and husband Kevin, Niece Elizabeth Silvernail and husband Jeffery, Niece Kathleen Olson and husband Timothy, Nephew William Myers and wife Kelly, Nephew John Alleman, and 6 great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Raeburn and Irene Myers, brother James R. Myers and sister Janet I. Nadler.

Services will take place privately. Memorial contributions may be made to: Spring Glen Church, 1825 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, CT 06517, please note “In memory of David Myers.”
