Naugatuck, CT Craig Steven Zaccagnini, 55, the husband of Susan (Sauer) Zaccagnini for the past 20 years, died Friday, June 13, 2025 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford after a long illness.
Craig was born October 22, 1969 in Waterbury, CT a son of Richard A. and Estelle I. (Houle) Zaccagnini. He attended Naugatuck schools and graduated from Naugatuck High School, Class of 1988. Craig worked at Quality Sheet Metal as a sheet metal worker for 22 years, before retiring in 2009 due to health issues with diabetes.Craig was an avid bike rider prior to getting sick, and would always ride or walk around the neighborhood checking in on the neighbors and offering a helping hand. He always held a special place in his heart for his dear neighbor Susan Armbruster. Craig was a big Harry Potter fan and that can be seen by the countless Harry Potter figures and Legos strategically placed around his house. He was very patriotic and most of the time would be seen wearing red/white/blue or have his trademark bandana in his pocket. He would always be seen sporting his American Eagle Belt buckle and chain in his pocket for his wallet. Craig loved motorcycles,quads and anything with a motor. Even though he didn’t get to ride much, he enjoyed driving the remote control monster trucks.
Craig is survived by his parents, Richard A. and Estelle I. (Houle) Zaccagnini; his spouse, Susan (Sauer) Zaccagnini all of Naugatuck; his mother-in-law, Geraldine Devoid of Woodbury; his sisters and brothers in law, Debra A. (Zaccagnini) Foshay and Raymond M. Foshay, Jr. and Traci Z. (Zaccagnini) Kelly and Richard A. Kelly all of Thomaston; his nephews, Ronald R. (Foshay) Ager (Nicole) of Great Barrington MA, Marcus A. Frank (Marisa), Jonathan R. Foshay (Alyson) all of Bristol and Aidan Kelly of Thomaston; his nieces, Kiera Kelly of Thomaston and Brianna Coley of Bristol; his great niece, Victoria Coley and great nephew, Jackson Frank both of Bristol and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Craig was predeceased by his grandparents, Oscar and Florentine Houle and John and Emma Zaccagnini.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 11:00am at The Shrine of St. Anne Church, (All Saints Parish), 515 South Main Street, Waterbury, CT. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:15 at the Buckmiller Ford Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers and to honor Craig’s memory, donations are requested to the National MS Society at www.nationalmssociety.org. or Dream Ride at www.dreamride.org.
