Carole Corona

Naugatuck, CT Carole “Grammy” Corona, died peacefully at Griffin Hospital on July 18, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones after battling a brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Corona and her parents, Andrew and Nellie Anderson.
Carole was born on September 11, 1937, in Waterbury, CT. She grew up and lived most of her life in Naugatuck, a town she loved very much. Carole attended Naugatuck schools before continuing her education at The Greenwich School of Nursing. Carole was extremely proud to be a nurse, she loved what she did and loved helping people. Carole started her career in pediatrics at Waterbury Hospital and then took her work into convalescent homes and private duty before finding her true joy at the Naugatuck VNA. Carole loved music, sports and spending time with her friends and family.
Carole is survived by her sister Susan and her husband Robert McCarthy of Ohio; her three children, Joseph Corona and his wife, Sherri of Naugatuck, Traci Fasano and her husband, Ron of Cape Cod and Kristi Rice and her husband, David of Middlebury. Grammy also leaves behind the gifts she was most proud of, her grandchildren, Stephen and Evan Corona, Joshua, Hannah, Abigail and Sarah Fasano, and Mikaela and Kylie Rice as well as her great grandchildren, Cameron and Charley Fasano. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Grammy’s greatest happiness was time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who will cherish her memory every day.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Carole’s life on Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers and to honor Carole’s memory, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Naugatuck Senior Center, 300 Meadow Street, Naugatuck, CT 06770.
