Frances Cichowski

Storrs, CT Frances Cichowski, age 100, of Storrs, CT, passed away on Monday morning,
June 12, 2023 at the Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehab. She was the wife of the late Felix Cichowski.

Born on September 16, 1922 in Meriden, CT, she was the eighth of nine children of the late
Louis and Mary (Liber) Tylec.

Fran is survived by her daughter, Barbara Vargoshe, and husband, Ric, of Woodbury, CT; her
son, Gregory Cichowski, of Storrs, CT; 3 grandchildren: Leyla Nichols of Newtown, CT; Erol
Cichowski of Montgomery, NY; and Nicholas Vargoshe of Woodbury, CT; and a great grandson,
Arri Nichols.

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for a while and leave footprints on
our hearts….and we are never, ever the same. Fran stayed with us for over 100 years and
touched the lives of many with her love and willingness to help others. She was a person who
could be counted on to help where she could, and do the best she could for her family, friends,
and strangers. She had an amazing resiliency, buoyed by her strong faith, and a keen mind that
enabled her until her death to sing Polish songs from her childhood. In her own modest way, she was truly inspiring.

In accordance with her wishes, A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, July 17, 2023 at 10:00am at St.
Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Everyone attending is kindly asked to please meet directly at church. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours.
