Naugatuck - Charles "Speedy" Pixley, 73, passed away on January 24, 2024, peacefully in his home.
Speedy graduated from Naugatuck High School in 1969. He had a passion for golf and fishing, spending many hours enjoying these hobbies. He loved helping organize the annual JAMES HENNESSEY, SR. MEMORIAL FISHING DERBY for kids at Baummer’s Pond every spring, and helping run various golf tournaments around town, especially the one that benefited the Newington Children's Hospital (later CT Children’s Medical Center) which ran for almost 20 years. He was also a NY Giants and NY Yankees fan, a Motown aficionado, and a fan of any other ball game or old black-and-white movie that was on TV.
Charles is survived by his cousin Doug Reed of Arizona and was preceded in death by his parents Doris and James Pixley; his brothers James Angelo "Heavy" Pixley, David "Panther" Pixley, and John Pixley.
Arrangements - Friends are invited to pay their respects and bid farewell to Speedy at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck on Wednesday February 7, 2024, from 5 to 7 pm. A service will be held at 7. Private burial will take place in the spring at Grove Cemetery.
Speedy will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May his soul rest in peace.
