NORTH FRANKLIN - Michael R. Casper Sr., 69, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, June 7, 2013. He was a longtime resident of Naugatuck.
Michael was born on Sept. 17, 1943, in Waterbury. He was the son of the late Pierce and Alice (Archambeau) Casper. After graduating from Naugatuck High School he went on to serve in the United States Navy. Michael worked for the DEEP as a safety director until his retirement. He was an advocate for Pit Bull Rescue, a fan of UConn basketball, but most loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by one son, Michael R. Casper Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Oxford; two daughters, Rachel Kirchner and her husband, Joseph, of Harwinton and Patricia Casper of Cheshire; a brother, John Casper and his wife, Carol, of San Antonio, Texas; and six loving grandchildren, Lauren, Olivia, Brooke, Bridget, Claire and Aiden.
A celebration of Michael's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. There are no calling hours. The Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck, is in care of arrangements. Burial will be private and at the family's convenience.
