WATERTOWN, CT Mark Carroll, 64, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Waterbury Hospital with his loving family members by his side.
Mark was born in Waterbury, CT on January 29, 1959 the son of the late George and Ann (Rakich) Carroll and graduated from Crosby High School, Class of 1977. Mark was employed by National Courier and Trucking for several years and was the owner of National Mail Delivery Service and Mark Carroll Snowplowing.
Mark’s fiancé, Melanie McMahon, was the love of his life for nine years and they were engaged to be married. Mark will always be remembered as a people person, whose main goal was to make people laugh. He had a witty and keen sense of humor, a heart of gold and lived life to the fullest. He was an entrepreneur, inventor and businessman. Mark obtained a patent for his snow blower to plow device called “The Lift Saver”.
Mark was a member of the Brass City Truckers Van Club and most recently the Prospect Car Owners Association. He was also a member of the Watertown Lion’s Club and the Waterbury Elks, BPOE #265.
Throughout his life he enjoyed golfing, bowling, boating, motorcycle riding and traveling, especially to Lake George. Mark was a huge fan of the Eagles Band, Bruce Springsteen, ZZ Top and the hit TV series, “The Sopranos”. He loved concerts, car shows, movies and Melanie’s cooking, especially her banana bread. He loved and cherished his family members, his extended family and many friends. We will always love and miss him, he was a classic.
Besides his devoted fiancé, Melanie, Mark leaves behind his sister, Colleen Carroll of Bethany, CT; his stepson, Michael Cardinal of Goshen, CT, three grandchildren and his beloved dog, Zoe. Mark was predeceased by his brother, Kevin Carroll.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 10:00am at St. Francis Xavier Church, 625 Baldwin Street, Waterbury. Burial will follow in Old St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hamilton Avenue, Waterbury. Calling hours are Friday, February 10, 2023 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers and to honor Mark’s memory, donations are requested to the American Heart Association, P.O. 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
