Cheshire, CT — Carol Anne McAndrew, 81, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at MidState Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Joseph James McAndrew, her husband of 59 years.
Mrs. McAndrew was born March 5, 1945, in New Haven, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Pearl (Juliano) Follo. She was a longtime Cheshire resident and attended Endicott College.
She was the heart of her family…a true matriarch whose love, strength, and warmth touched everyone who knew her. Proud of her Italian heritage, she was known for her famous meatballs and Italian pies, always on the hunt and mission to bake the perfect pie crust. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, tradition, and love, and her home was always open..she truly believed the more, the merrier. Her table was full…there could never be enough food for the holidays.
Her greatest joy was her family. She helped care for her eight grandchildren from the day they were born, present in their lives on a daily basis, and always putting everyone else before herself. She embodied what it means to be a grandparent. She was an amazing Nana who offered unconditional love, guidance, and a constant presence in their lives.
Carol also worked alongside her husband for 25 years at Alpine Ski and Sport, where they built not only a business but a life together.
Mrs. McAndrew is survived by her children, Michelle McAndrew Nash and Justin Nash, Joseph McAndrew and his wife Andrea; her former son-in-law, Bill Procanik; her grandchildren, Emily McAndrew, Jake Procanik and his girlfriend Sierra Penner, Sophie McAndrew, Jami Procanik, Sarah McAndrew, Logan Nash, Morgan Nash, Reese Nash; and her step-granddaughter, Savannah Nash.
Arrangements: Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 12 to 2 pm at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. Words of remembrance and prayer will be shared at 2 p.m. Committal will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to The Sisters Project of Wallingford, P.O. Box 1643, Wallingford, CT 06492, a non-profit dedicated to helping local cancer patients and their families. Her love lives on in every meal shared, every tradition carried forward, and in the hearts of the family she cherished most.
