Middlebury, CT   Barbara Winslow, 81, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at her home. Barbara died after fighting a courageous battle with cancer for many years.

Barbara was born in Waterbury, CT on September 4, 1944, the daughter of the late Lillian and Henry Fatek and was the stepdaughter of the late Edward Hanson. She was the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Scheithe.

Barbara worked for the Naugatuck Board of Education as a manager from 1978 until retirement in 2004. She then worked as a receptionist from 2006 until 2016 at Beacon Brook Health Center. Barbara enjoyed gardening, horseback riding and traveling many wonderful places with her significant other Gaylord.

Barbara is survived by her significant other, Gaylord Sanford; her daughter, Denise Winslow and her significant other, Robert Kulmatycski; her sons, Ronald “Chuck” Winslow and his wife Karen, Keith Winslow and his wife Chris; her brothers, Edward Hanson and Jeff Hanson and his wife Donna; her grandchildren, Jennifer Gibran, Noah and Saige Winslow, Nina Hersher and her husband Ed Gelman; her great grandson, Nathan July; her great granddaughter, Aria Gelman; her step-daughter, Tammie Moir and her partner, Holly Verdile; her extended family, Gary and Deborah Sanford, Matthew, Thomas and Catie Sanford and many nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, and her step-father, Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Winslow, Sr., her grandson, Brian Gibran and her sister-in-law, Vickie Hanson.

Barbara’s family would like to sincerely thank Hartford Healthcare Hospice Homecare in Watertown for the exceptional care that they provided.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 10:30am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Calling hours are Saturday from 8:00am to 10:00am at the Buckmiller Ford Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers and to honor Barbara’s memory, donations are requested to the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center, 1075 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT 06708.
