Barbara A. Verikas

Barbara A. Verikas, age 76, of Beacon Falls, the beloved wife of Richard R. Verikas Sr. for over 55 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Lord Chamberlain Nursing Home.

Barbara was born August 3, 1949, in Bridgeport, the daughter of the late Robert and Alma (Legere) Sears. She was a longtime resident of Beacon Falls, a graduate of Andrew Ward High School, Class of 1967, and of Heritage College for Travel and Tourism in 1997. She worked as a night auditor at the Residence Inn in Shelton, Milford, and Southington collectively for over twenty years. In earlier years, she was a successful Independent Sales Representative of Tupperware and Coppercraft.

Besides her husband of over 55 years, Barbara is survived by her loving children, Richard Jr. and Tracy Peterson (Ted); her cherished grandchildren R. Stuart, Timothy, Shawn, and Taran Myers; her brother-in-law Bill Verikas (Mary Lou); and her sisters Linda Sears, Sharon Rodrigues, and Betty Gabriel. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Robert Sears Jr., and her sisters, Mary Nielson and Joan Geragosian.

Barbara had many talents, interests, and passions, but is best known for her beautiful ceramic pieces, enjoyment of destination cruises, laughing to SpongeBob SquarePants, and being a Trace Atkins fan.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Buckmiller Ford Mengacci Funeral Home, located at 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck, CT 06770. Funeral services and burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Grove Cemetery.
