Barbara M. Lengyel

Naugatuck, CT    Barbara M. Lengyel, 87, wife of Ronald D. Lengyel, died Sunday, December 14, 2025.

Barbara was born May 14, 1938 in Waterbury, CT daughter of the late Thomas K. and Ruth (Sido) McHale. Barbara attended St. Thomas Grammar School, Naugatuck High School and St. Mary’s School of Nursing. Barb worked as a registered nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital and as a school nurse with the Naugatuck Board of Education.

On June 25, 1960, she married her high school sweetheart, Ron, and together they welcomed 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She immersed herself in all of their lives and they brought great joy and pride into her life. The love she showered on their lives will continue to live on through her warm and gentle spirit.

In addition to Ron, her husband of 65 years, Barbara is survived by her children, Kevin Lengyel (Michelle), David Lengyel, Kathy Lengyel (John) and Denise Skura (Bill); her grandchildren, Kelsey (Karl), Alexandra (Dan), Meghan (Matt), Maddison, Kaulman (Christina), William (Brittany), Caroline (Jake), Emily and Julia; her great grandchildren, Rowan and Maisie; her brother, Thomas McHale (Shirleyan) and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 22, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Naugatuck. Everyone attending Mass is kindly asked to please meet directly at church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be Sunday, December 21, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the Buckmiller Ford Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers and to honor Barbara’s memory, donations are requested to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck, CT 06770.  Barbara’s Mass of Christian Burial will be live-streamed and can be viewed by clicking HERE.
