Prospect - Antonio da Silva, 74, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Maria de Fatima (Dos Santos) da Silva.
Mr. da Silva was born April 11, 1952, in Murtosa, Portugal, the son of the late Agostinho and Elvira (Rebimbas) Da Silva. He came to the U.S. in 1969, and was a construction foreman until retiring in 2010. He was actively involved in P.A.S.A, the Portuguese American Suncoast Association in Saint Petersburg, Florida. He was a dedicated parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Waterbury, Connecticut.
Besides his wife Fatima of 54 years, he leaves his loving family to honor his legacy: daughter, Elvira Butler and her husband Jamie of Northfield, daughter Fatima Rodrigues and her husband Jimmy, and son Joe da Silva and his wife Nancy of Cheshire. He was a proud, loving grandfather to Antonio James, Gabriella, Devin, Alanna, Giovanni, Gianna, Alicianna, Ava, and Ethan. He also leaves behind his siblings Elvira (Antonio) Rebelo of Naugatuck, Augusto (Joanna) da Silva of Southbury, Gloria (Servio) de Oliveira of Portugal, and Jose (Maria) da Silva of Naugatuck. He was predeceased by his brother Manuel (Laura) of Naugatuck, his sister Amalia (Jose) Reis of Naugatuck, his brother Agostinho (Cynthia) da Silva of New Haven. His in-laws Ana Santos, Telma (Joao) Teixeira, Hortense Da Rocha, Nazare Teixeira, Dalila Teixeira, Anabela Santos, and Candida (Jack) DeOliveira. He was predeceased by in-laws Alberto Santos and Victor Teixeira. Antonio also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Arrangements – Visitation will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 6 to 8 pm at the Buckmiller Ford Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck. On Tuesday morning, calling hours will be at 9:00 am. The procession will leave the funeral home at 10:15 am and proceed to Our Lady of Fatima Church for Mass at 11 am. Entombment will follow at Queen of Peace Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (info@curemeso.org or 877-363-6376).
