Anthony Amodio, age 93, of Naugatuck, entered into the gates of Heaven on Friday, April 24, 2026 with his sister by his side. Tony was born on September 7, 1932, in Torrington, the son of the late Joseph and Carmella (Tripaldi) Amodio. He was raised in Waterbury and New Haven and spent many years living in West Haven.
Tony worked for Laticrete International Inc. in Bethany as a sample maker. He was a selfless and devoted older brother who was always there for his younger siblings. Tony enjoyed gardening and cooking for friends and family. Throughout his life, he made many lasting friendships, he lived a Christian life and had a close relationship with God. Tony had a genuine love for people and, in his later years, became known as quite the jokester. He was affectionately remembered for his signature greeting: “Are you 110 percent with efficiency?”
He is survived by his beloved sisters, Lucille Velez-Escobar of Mexico and Yolanda Klimas of Naugatuck. Tony also leaves behind five generations of cherished nieces and nephews; his favorite sister-in-law, Nancy (Amodio) Moody; and his best friends Louie and Joann Dubay. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Louis Amodio, Mary A. Smith, Anna A. Rein, Salvatore Amodio, Vincent Amodio, and Carmella A. Murphy, as well as his lifelong best friend, Manuel “Manny” Alberta.
His family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the many caregivers who provided care and companionship to Tony over the years, especially his nurse, Justine; his caregivers, Ana and Regina—who affectionately called him “Papi”—and his social worker, Frank, as well as his therapists, Elliot and Phyllis; hospice staff and Nurse Ellen; and his social worker Maggie-whom Tony ‘loved at first sight’.
Services for Tony will be held privately at the convenience of his family. The Buckmiller Ford Mengacci Funeral Home of Naugatuck has been entrusted with his care. To leave online condolences, please visit www.fordfh.com
