Annette Pearl Araujo

Annette Pearl Araujo, a cherished resident of Prospect, CT, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2023, at the age of 94, surrounded by the warmth and love of her dear family. She was born on January 31, 1929, in Waterbury, CT, to the late Wilfred LaPlante and the late Beatrice and Donald McGarthwaite.

Annette had a deep passion for life, finding joy in the simple pleasures that surrounded her. Her nimble fingers were often seen crafting intricate crochet pieces, and she found solace in the great outdoors during her camping adventures. Above all, her heart swelled with happiness when she opened her home to loved ones during the holidays, with Christmas being her absolute favorite. Annette's cherished tradition included serenading her grandchildren and, in time, her great-grandchildren, with the harmonious melodies of Christmas music played on her beloved organ. Cardinals held a special place in her heart, their vibrant red plumage serving as a constant reminder of the beauty that surrounded her. Annette's passion extended to the nurturing and breeding of Pomeranians, where she poured her love and care into these fluffy companions, creating a legacy of canine companionship that will be cherished for generations to come.

In addition to her many passions, Annette was a remarkable entrepreneur and professional. For numerous years, she owned and operated a clothing store in Waterbury. Later in her career, she transitioned to the world of banking, dedicating two decades to this industry, where her expertise and dedication shone brightly.

Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Trinity Health of New England Hospice team members: Marnee, Yazmin, and Chaplain Jeh, whose compassion, unwavering support, and exceptional care provided comfort during Annette's final days.

Annette leaves behind a legacy of love, including her children, Joyce Giusto Evon and Kenneth Araujo (Sue); her adoring grandchildren, Francis Evon Jr. (Laura), Scott Evon (Lisa), Anne-Marie Sharron (Ken), Brian Evon (Rebecca), Adam Araujo, and Jennifer Araujo; and ten cherished great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved feline companion, Penny. Annette is preceded in death by her longtime partner, Carl Graves, and her son-in-law, Francis Evon Sr.

A private graveside service will be held at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the CT National Guard Foundation Education Scholarship Fund.

Annette's memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those she touched, and her legacy of love and warmth will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in eternal peace.
