Anna Pettinicchi

Anna (DiMarco) Pettinicchi, age 67, of Cheshire entered into rest on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Yale-New Haven Hospital surrounded by her loving family.  She was the devoted wife of Robert Pettinicchi for over 39 years.   Anna was born on February 15, 1957 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Antimo and Maria (Marinelli) DiMarco.

Anna was raised in Waterbury, graduated from Sacred Heart High School and earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Fairfield University. As a first-generation Italian-American the importance of her heritage followed her throughout life. She met Robert while working for his family’s business in Waterbury during the summers. Anna was drawn to Robert’s adventurous spirit and he to her family’s Italian traditions. Their romance blossomed, especially while canning tomatoes and making wine in their families’ summer kitchens. They married on October 6th 1984 and settled in Cheshire where they raised their three daughters. She worked as a research associate for Yale School of Medicine from 1979 until her early retirement in 2000, when she was diagnosed with a brain tumor.  Anna was a fighter and her recovery was a miracle. She shined a positive light on any obstacle and saw the world through rose-colored glasses. Her positivity and generosity of spirit were an inspiration for others. After winning her battle she became an active volunteer with Cheshire’s Relay for Life and member of Cheshire’s YMCA Livestrong program for many years.  She was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Bridget Church, where she was a CCD teacher for nearly 20 years.  Anna found peace in pastels as a long-time student of Artsplace and was a supporter of the growing arts program at the Ball & Socket Arts.

In addition to her husband, Robert, Anna is survived by her loving daughters, Jenna Pettinicchi (Robert Corbin), Bianca Pettinicchi (Patrick Marzullo), and Elizabeth Pettinicchi (Billy Duong).  She also leaves her cherished grandchildren, Milo Corbin, and Beau and Valentino Marzullo; her brother, Massimo DiMarco (Gloria); her sisters, Giovanna Lepore (Tony); and Donna Orsatti; her brother-in-law, Michael Pettinicchi; her aunt Maria Anchini; several loving cousins, nieces and nephews; and a very special group of lifelong friends.  She was recently predeceased by her mother, Maria DiMarco and her sister-in-law, Diana Pettinicchi.
