Ann B. Edson, 91, of Cheshire, CT, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles S. Edson, to whom she was married for nearly 60 years at the time of his passing.
Born January 31, 1935, in Spangler, PA, she was the daughter of the late Francis E. Bearer and the late Stella J. Kane Bearer.
Ann grew up in Carrolltown, PA, and graduated from John Carroll High School in 1952. Upon graduation, Ann began her nursing career with training at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After graduation, she opted to see the world as a TWA flight attendant out of New York City, where she met and later followed the love of her life, Charlie, to Connecticut. She worked as a registered nurse for more than 50 years at several hospitals. Her compassion for others and dedication to caring for those around her were hallmarks of her life.
Ann was the devoted mother of Karen Brown (Don), James Edson (Carol Anne), Charles Edson (Patti) and Sally Custer (Scott). She leaves behind eight grandchildren–Caitlyn, Megan, Emily, Hannah, Kyle, Sophie, MaryKate, and Ben–and four great-grandchildren, Audrey, Layne, Lenna and Summer. She is also survived by her brother, Francis Bearer (Marcia), and her sister-in-law, Anna Bearer, as well as numerous wonderful nieces and nephews.
Ann was a devoted Catholic whose tremendous faith guided her throughout her life. Her faith was a source of strength and comfort which shaped the love and care she shared with family and friends.
Ann loved her garden and took great pride in nurturing flowers and plants. She was an avid quilter and a master seamstress, creating beautiful pieces with remarkable skill and care. Many family and friends were fortunate to receive something lovingly made by Ann.
Ann and Charlie raised their family in Cheshire, CT, where they built a home filled with love. Together, they later retired to Woodsville, NH, and spent the next 25 years in the company of dear friends, leisurely travel, and simple pleasures.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Marbridge of Cheshire for the years of devoted care and respect they provided Ann and her family.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to The Sisters' Project, PO Box 1643, Wallingford, CT 06492, or by clicking HERE
