It is with profound sadness that the family of Andrew Dominic Borelli, born February 25, 1975 in Meriden, CT announces his passing after a brief illness.
Andy is survived by his wife, Mary; his cherished twin sons, Joseph and Sammy; his parents, Andrew and Cornelia; sisters, Beth Bielesz (Arkadiusz), Peggy, and Laurie; parents-in-law, John and Sandy; brother-in-law, John; sister-in-law, Ashley; niece, Elena; and nephews, Jacob and Jameson; uncle, and many cousins.
Andy graduated from Mark T. Sheehan High School in Wallingford, CT and earned a degree in history from Norwich University. His commitment to serving others began shortly after college when he joined the Connecticut State Police. He proudly served as a State Police Trooper for 20 years before beginning a new chapter with the Prospect Police Department.
Service was at the heart of who Andy was. Whether patrolling his community, helping in the classroom, or coaching his sons and their teammates, he believed that we become our best selves by serving others. Humble, thoughtful, and sincere, Andy touched countless lives and was a role model to his sons, niece, nephews, and friends. The outpouring of support from fellow Connecticut State Troopers and police officers during his hospital stay was a testament to the respect and affection he inspired throughout his life.
Above all, Andy treasured his family, especially Joseph and Sammy. He taught his boys to value experiences over possessions, creating a lifetime of memories together: camping in New Hampshire, hiking through National Parks, attending Red Sox games, searching for shark-tooth fossils in Florida, and countless trips to the beach—despite Andy never being particularly fond of the water.
He found equal joy in the everyday moments of fatherhood, from teaching his sons to make his famous beef brisket to showing them the perfect moment to jump from a rope swing into a lake. His generosity extended to his beloved dogs, Cap and Summer. Neighbors may remember Andy shoveling through two feet of snow to create a frozen canine racetrack. Andy will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him. Though he was taken from us far too soon, his love, values, and spirit will live on through his children and the many lives he touched.
The family extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported Andy, especially the Connecticut State Police, the Prospect Police Department, our Deaconwood neighbors, and to all who have shown love and kindness to Mary, Joseph, and Sammy during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Andy’s memory to the National Park Service or the ASPCA.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 615 South Main St., Cheshire, CT. A Funeral Service will take place at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
