Alice Solveig Christenson

Cheshire - Alice Solveig Christenson

Born in Nykarlaby Finland on November 25th, 1936, and given the name Solveig Alicia Ahlstrom by her parents, John Reguel Ahlstrom and Elin Dagmar Sofia Nyquist. 

 She traveled to the United States of America from Sweden in 1946 with her older brother Edvin Reguel Ahlstrom and mother to be with their father and reside in Worcester, Mass., where she would later graduate from North High School and Clark University, with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Magnum Cum Laude. She attended Bethel Baptist Church, where she met her future husband, Kenneth Axel Christenson. They would be married in 1959 at Belmont Baptist Church, Worcester. Alice gave birth to her only child, Mark Kenneth Christenson on April 27th, 1963. She worked as a grade school teacher in Worcester and Cheshire, Connecticut, where she moved in 1974, with her son and husband, who worked as a Administrator for Elim Park. She later operated her own childcare business at 445 Lincoln Drive, Cheshire for many years. 

 Alice attended Faith Baptist Church in Southington, and Olivet Baptist Church in Hamden, where her husband served in leadership postions for both congregations. She will be remembered for her great love for her family, friends, and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who were her reasons for living. Alice went home to be the Lord, early Sunday morning on January the 21st, 2024. Her only surviving family members are her son Mark Christenson and her nephew Kenneth Ahlstrom, who was her caregiver since December of 2018. 

 A Memorial Service honoring the life of Alice Christenson will be held at Olivet Baptist Church, 3762 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, CT 06518, on Saturday, February 10th, at 2:00 pm. The Memorial Service will be live-streamed at olivetbaptistchurch.com/livestream for those who are unable to attend in person.
