Alfred W. Renda, 96 of Wallingford, passed away on Tuesday February 13, 2024 at LiveWell of Plantsville. He was born on September 22, 1927, in New Haven, CT son of the late Antonio and Mary (Basta) Renda. He was the husband of the late Ann (Painz) and Renate (Berner) Renda.
Alfred lived a full life filled with a love for music and enjoyed playing his guitar for friends and family. Hunting and fishing were among his favorite pastimes, along with capturing moments through photography. As a dedicated machine operator in the manufacturing industry, Alfred worked for Pratt & Whitney retiring after many years of service. Alfred proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Alfred is survived by his daughter Kathleen Renda, son Steven Renda, his grandchildren Kristina Johnson, Joshua Epperson, Nicholas Epperson, and great-grandchild Karter. He also leaves behind his nephews Christopher, Timothy and Andy Macri and his nieces Carolyn Buffinton and Marilyn Modzelewski. Along with his parents and wives, Alfred was predeceased by his brother Anthony Macri, his sister and brother-in-law Eleanor and Carmine Romano as well as his nephew Damian Romano.
Family and friends may gather at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire 615 South Main Street on Sunday March 10, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. A graveside service with military honors in celebration of Alfred’s life will be held Monday March 11, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Damian T. Romano Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of Webster Bank 145 Highland Avenue Cheshire, CT 06410.
