Alexis Mulvey Connolly
October 29, 1944 - December 13, 2025
With sadness in our hearts, our beloved mother, Alexis Mulvey Connolly has passed away. Her beautiful life journey came to an end on December 13th after a courageous battle with ALS. Although our hearts are broken now, the world was blessed with her love and laughter for 81 years.
Alexis was born in Southington, Connecticut, on October 29, 1944, to the late Philomena and Alexander Picone. She was the 4th daughter of 5 beautiful Picone girls. A graduate of St. Mary’s High School in New Haven, Alexis began her career with the Southern New England Telephone Company before turning her entrepreneurial vision into reality. What started with a single keypunch machine in her basement grew into a thriving business—A.M. Data Services - which employed more than fifty people. She managed and co-owned the company for nearly fifteen years, earning tremendous respect from colleagues and friends.
Alexis lived life to the fullest. She was cherished for her spark, her fun-loving spirit, and her gift for bringing laughter wherever she went. Always the first to take the dance floor, she brought energy and light to every gathering. She had many long lasting friendships in both Connecticut and Florida, keeping an active schedule of golf, tennis, and mahjong—often managing all three in one day. She loved to travel, enjoying annual foliage trips through New England as well as memorable adventures across Europe. Her warmth, humor, and zest for life made every day richer for those around her.
Alexis will be lovingly remembered by her husband of almost 40 years, George Connolly. George and Alexis had many beautiful years together filled with love, laughter, family, friends, golf, tennis and travel. But most importantly, their love of dancing together made them a dynamic couple. Alexis and George’s love for each other was truly unique.
Alexis’s daughters, Stacie Allen and Jill Purpura, will forever cherish her strength, beauty, and enduring love. Their childhoods were anything but boring in their big Italian family and every day was an adventure. Nothing gave Alexis more comfort than knowing her children were happy and safe, and she was deeply grateful for the care and friendship of their husbands, Dan Allen and Steve Purpura, whom she adored.
Among her greatest joys were her five grandchildren—Mackenzie Allen, Riley Allen, Sydney Allen, Steven Purpura, and Alexander Purpur,a who affectionately called her “Nana.” To them, she was a whirlwind of laughter and affection, with a sharp wit and sense of humor that kept everyone smiling. She was also a fierce competitor and loved playing games with them. The only thing that made her happier than winning was teaching her grandchildren all of her “tricks”.
Alexis is survived by her sisters Rose Castellon, Marie O’Neill, and Alexandria Johnso,n who were her dearest friends throughout her life. She is predeceased by her sister Theresa Lee. Alexis was also a devoted aunt to eleven nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Above all, she valued family and instilled that same devotion in those she loved.
The family will receive friends at Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 615 S. Main Street, Cheshire, this Thursday, December 18th, between the hours of 4 pm and 6 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, December 19th at 11:30 am at St. Bridget of Sweden Church, 175 Main Street, Cheshire, CT. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the ALS Association (www.als.org) for continued research that will accelerate new treatments and hopefully find a cure for this horrible disease.
