Alessandro DiCaprio

Waterbury, CT Alessandro DiCaprio, 79, husband of Rita (Orciso) Di Caprio, died peacefully on May 3, 2025 in the VITAS Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Mr. DiCaprio was born October 6, 1945 in Italy a son of the late Francesco and Michalina (Longa) DiCaprio and had lived in Waterbury for over 58 years. Mr. DiCaprio was a retired machinist, having worked at Timex in Middlebury and Allied Signal in Cheshire.

In addition to Rita, his wife of 57 years, Alessandro is survived by his son, Frank DiCaprio; his brother, Bruno DiCaprio; his sisters, Antonietta DiCaprio, Giannina DiCaprio, Giuseppina Di Caprio and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Alessandro was predeceased by his daughter, Lena DiCaprio Kupka and several brothers and sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Loreto Church, 12 Ardsley Road, Waterbury. Everyone attending is kindly asked to please meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Ford Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers and to honor Alessandro’s memory, donations are requested to the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center, 1075 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT 06708.
