Virginia Grochowski

WATERBURY; Mrs. Virginia C. (Bonafe) Grochowski, 65 of Waterbury passed away Tuesday July 6, 2010 at Saint Mary's Hospital. She was the wife of Joseph P. Grochowski, Jr.

Mrs. Grochowski was born October 8, 1944 in the Bronx, New York a daughter of the late Rene J. and Julia J. (Ruccio) Bonafe and has been a Waterbury resident since 1989. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Yonkers, New York and had worked at Wolcott View Manor in the housekeeping department retiring after many years of service. She enjoyed gardening, being outdoors and spending time with her family.

Virginia's family would like to thank Dr. Bowen and his staff, Dr Percarpio and his staff, the nursing staff of Xavier 3 at Saint Mary's Hospital and the VNA Home Care and Hospice Team for their care and support during her illness.

Besides her husband of over 47 years, she leaves her sons, Joseph P. Grochowski, III and Daniel Grochowski both of Waterbury, her daughters, Dawn Shears and Julia Rios both of Waterbury, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Maryann and Mario Pedone, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Irma Barrieau and Diane Bonafe.

Funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of her family. There are no calling hours. The Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury 9 Holmes Avenue has care of arrangements.
