Timothy P. Cousens

WATERBURY- Timothy P. Cousens, age 76, entered into rest on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at his home with his loving wife by his side. He was the devoted husband of Joselma Barbosa DeMoura Cousens. Tim was born on February 21, 1943 in Waltham, MA, son of the late G. Chauncey and Cynthia (Smith) Cousens.

He attended Waltham schools, and served his country with honor and pride with the US Army for 4 years and was honorably discharged in 1968. Tim was a graduate of the United States Army Aviation School, Ft. Rucker, Alabama, where he graduated with the rank of Warrant Officer Helicopter Pilot, and went on to qualify as a commercial airline pilot. For his service in Vietnam he was awarded The Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, The Air Medal with 6 Oak Leaf clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross. After his discharge from the Army, Tim was employed at Sikorsky Aircraft, then a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation of CT, for 42 years before retiring in 2012.

Tim is the beloved father of Kimberly Hailstones and her husband, John of CT; Dr. Timothy Cousens and his wife, Myra of NM; Regina Cousens Cleveland of CT; and step daughters, Judith Walker and her husband, Peter of CT; and Laura Roberts of CT. He is the loving grandfather of Joshua, Jonny and Jay Hailstones; Grace and Gavin Cleveland; MacAllen and Nicholas Cousens; Serenity Roberts; and Mason and Dillon Conkling. Tim is also survived by his brother, Michael Cousens and his wife, Joan of AZ and his sister, Nancy Strickland and her husband, Fred of OH. He was predeceased by his brothers, Nicholas, formerly of MA; Christopher, formerly of FL; and Geoffrey, formerly of MA.

A service and entombment will be held 10 A.M, Friday, October 11, 2019 at the CT State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT 06457. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the cemetery. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury has been entrusted with Tim’s care. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shoal Creek Adventist School, Cousen’s Memorial Fund, 4957 Hwy 34 E., Sharpsburg, GA 30277.
