Thomas Boyd

MARLBOROUGH, MA- Thomas Paul Boyd, 91, previously of 675 Park Road Extension, Middlebury, Connecticut, and recently of 400 Hemenway Street, Marlborough, Massachusetts, succumbed to natural causes on May 23, 2011. His wife Bernice Lasky Boyd predeceased him on April 29, 2010 of natural causes.

Thomas was born in Sharon, Connecticut on December 24, 1919, to Ivan and Emily Boyd. He was a decorated soldier of the 10th Mountain Division receiving both the Bronze Star and the Purple heart for bravery after he and his troops held Mt. Belvedere in Italy with nearly depleted forces and supplies, for 48 hours until reserves finally arrived. Both Thomas and Bernice embraced life, loved their family, and their country. Both blazed the trail for skiing in Connecticut, by being charter members of the NAVA Ski Club. Thomas was a professional ski instructor and was the first rider on the first Mansfield Chair Lift in Stowe, Vermont.

Thomas embraced tennis and was a long time member of the Watertown Tennis Club. He was a devoted employee of the Connecticut Light and Power Company for thirty nine years. Bernice worked with agencies in the state to begin the Bluebird Trail; of course, Thomas helped make the bird houses! Besides her love for nature and conservation, Bernice was a long time member of the Girl Scouts and promoted their growth in Connecticut.

Together they were a team that embraced what life gave them, loved their family and will

be missed by their family, Ted and Diane Pelletier, Stow, Massachusetts, and their grandchildren, Derek Pelletier and Lindsay Crowe, and their great grandchildren, Ava, Lucas and Dylan Pelletier, and baby Crowe to be inducted into the family in August of 2011.

Arrangements- Funeral services for Thomas will be private. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave, 06710 is in charge of the arrangements.
