CHESHIRE- Stephen Bergeron, 21, died Friday after a courageous battle with alveolar rhabdomyo sarcoma, a rare form of cancer.

He was born November 24, 1995 in Meriden son of Tom and the late Tina Marie (Cassady) Bergeron.

Stephen was raised in Cheshire, attended Cheshire schools, and graduated from Cheshire High School, where he was a multiple letter winner as part of the wrestling team. Until his diagnosis, Steve attended Champlain College in Burlington, VT where he majored in Business Administration, and was a member of the school’s rugby team.

Expressions of sincere gratitude are due to all those who helped his spirit and dignity throughout his ordeal. This includes but is not limited to; members of the Cheshire and Champlain College communities for their generosity, and spirit; staff at Figure Eight Properties and Insite Insurance for their support, Tom Brady of the New England Patriots, the UVM hockey team, Patrice Bergeron and Kevin Miller of the Boston Bruins for their well wishes, and the Boston Red Sox and CT Laborers 455 for their generosity. Thanks also goes to the staff at both Dana Farber, and Sloan Kettering hospitals for their assistance, and to the Doctors and nurses at Smilow Cancer Center for their continuous compassionate care, Darla, as well as Chris and Ed from the Regional Hospice Program for their unending support and assistance. Finally, special thanks are due to the Trippany family for their loyalty and care during his struggle.

Besides his father Stephen is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends who provided extensive support, love and care giving throughout his illness.

Arrangements- Calling hours for Stephen will be held Friday, January 27, 2017 from 5 to 8 p.m. at The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St, 06410. His funeral will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. Bridget Church, 175 Main Street, Cheshire, 06410. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery, Higgins Road, Cheshire, 06410. Donations in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
