CHESHIRE –Sally (Eaton) Burt, 73, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017, at Mid-State Medical Center in Meriden, CT. She was the wife of Gerald M. Burt.

Sally was born April 16, 1944, in Amsterdam, NY, the daughter of the late Robert and Mildred (McCrossen) Eaton. She was raised in upstate New York, attended Galway Central Schools, and graduated with a degree in horticulture from SUNY Cobleskill College. Since graduating, Sally worked in the floral industry as an accomplished, creative, and gifted floral designer. She had a loyal clientele who loved her designs and followed her throughout her career.

Sally and her husband, Jerry, were longtime owners and operators of Burt’s Florist, in Galway, NY, and The Larkspur, in Saratoga, NY, two businesses and a clientele they loved dearly. They later relocated to Connecticut and lived in the Cheshire area for more than 25 years. Sally worked for several floral shops in Cheshire as a designer and floral manager, and most recently with Cheshire Nursery, where she was adored by her colleagues and clients. She was a lover of nature, family and friends, cooking, gardening, music, horses, and had a lifelong passion for flowers.

Besides her husband Jerry, Sally is survived by her daughter, Marcy Burt McCauley and husband, Christopher McCauley of Sterling, MA and daughter, Shelley Burt and husband, Robert Olmsted of Boston, MA, sister, Mary (Eaton) McDonough, of Halfmoon, NY, and brothers, David Eaton, of West Galway, NY, and Robert Eaton, of Galway, NY, (owners of of Bob’s Trees), and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Arrangements – At the wishes of the family, there will be a private memorial service at a future date. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society or The Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation. The Alderson-Ford Funeral home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements.
