Ruth Sher

Mrs. Ruth Violet (Fishman) Sher, 92, of Cheshire, formerly of Barkhamsted CT and Yonkers NY, died on Friday, January 22, 2010. She was the wife of the late Adolph Sher.

Mrs., Sher was born on May 25, 1917, in Philadelphia PA, daughter of the late Zena Batalsky and Louis Fishman.

She is survived by her son Philip and his wife Patricia of Cheshire, her grandchildren Adam and Deborah Sher of Cheshire, Amanda and Erica Sher Tatti of New City, NY and Mitchell Abrams of Fords, NJ, her great grandchildren Lea and Melissa Abrams of Staten Island, NY and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

She was predeceased by her son, David; her daughter Barbara Abrams; her grand daughter Alicia Abrams; and her sisters, Eleanor Krakower and Esther Lynn Taylor.

During her life, she devoted herself to raising her three children and was active in Parent Teacher Association activities. She was a member of the Cheshire Senior Citizens.

A graveside service was held at 11 A.M on Wednesday, January 27 in Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale, NY. There were no calling hours. The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St., is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions in Ruth's name may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
