WATERBURY-Rudolph "Rudy" F. Ricciardi, 73, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully at the VITAS Hospice Unit at St. Mary's Hospital on Sunday evening Nov. 11, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Linda (Palladino) Ricciardi.

Rudy was born on March 1, 1939, in Waterbury, son of the late Gerald and Carmella (Albanese) Ricciardi. He lived in Waterbury most of his life and recently lived at Heritage Village, Southbury. Rudy graduated from SS Peter & Paul and Leavenworth High School.

Prior to his illness, Rudy was co-owner of Robinwood Hollow Adult Day Care. He formerly worked as a stonemason for W.J. Megin and many local contractors and also was the owner of Ricciardi & Capaldo and R.F. Ricciardi, mason contractors.

Rudy was an avid bowler; bowling with many bowling leagues since 1962. He also enjoyed deep-sea fishing and golf before his illness. Most of all he enjoyed his family and was so proud of his children and grandchildren. Rudy was known to most as "One in a million". Rudy was a member of B'Nai Shalom Synagogue, Waterbury.

Besides his wife of 45 years, he was the loving father of three daughters: Sheila Bernabe and her husband Barry of Wolcott, Tricia Weaver and her husband, Ronald of Thomaston, and Alicia Ricciard-Lahey of Bristol, seven grandchildren: Joshua, Justin and Brooke Weaver, Wesley and Benjamin Lahey and Jacob and Rachel Bernabe. He is also survived by three sisters: Elaine Cannata of Waterbury, Ann Longo of Watertown, and Maryellen Amabile of Myrtle Beach, S.C., one brother, Gerald Ricciardi of CA, several nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday Nov. 13,2012, at 10:00 a.m. at B'Nai Shalom Synagogue, 135 Roseland Avenue, Waterbury. Burial will follow Hebrew Benefit Cemetery, Stillson Rd., Waterbury. The Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave. is in charge of arrangements. Shiva will be observed for relatives and friends at his late residence, 286 Beth Lane Unit 20 from 5 pm to 9 pm on , Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday..
