On Tuesday October 25, 2011 Ronald W. Taylor lost his two-year courageous battle with colon cancer. He passed away in his adopted hometown of Cheshire. Ron was an inspiration to his family, to his friends, his fellow cancer patients, to everyone who knew him and to everyone who believed in social justice. He truly was a gentle soul who cared deeply.

He was the devoted husband of Mary Murphy-Taylor of Cheshire and the beloved father of Amanda Williams-Taylor of Branford. He will also be remembered by his dear friends Gerald, Kathy, Katie & Lulu O'Donnell, Peter Tsimbardos & George Gould. Also his sister-in-law Anne L. Murphy of Branford,

Ronald was born in New Haven the son of the late Burdell and Marion (Barbour) Taylor. He attended New Haven Schools and played football for Hillhouse High School. He had worked for Leshine Carton & Yale University. He is also survived by his brother Burdell (Mamie) Taylor, his sister Yvonne Anderson (Andy). He was predeceased by brothers Michael and Charles He also will be remembered by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to remember the special people that touched his life. Dr. Stacey M. Stein of Smilow Cancer Hospital, Dr. Michael DiLuna of YNNH. Karen Underwood Infusion Nurse at Smilow Cancer Hospital, Barbara Bourland of the VNA, Michael Sweeney Hospice Nurse and all the In Home Hospice nurses that allowed Ron's last days to be peaceful and dignified.

The fight for justice for Ronald will be carried on by his family and friends.

A celebration of Ronald's life will be held at The First Congregational Church of Cheshire 111 Church Drive on Saturday November 5, 2011 at 2 pm with a reception for family to follow at the Parrish Hall.
