Rita Pendergast

Rita Pendergast, 93, of Meriden and also Florida died Monday, September 21, 2009 at Mid-State Medical Center, after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband James Pendergast.

Rita was born December 16, 1916 in Methuen, MA and was the son of the late Francis and Rose Alma Murray.

Rita was an avid golfer and a member of the Merrimack Valley Country Club in Methuen, MA and also the Wallingford Country Club where she won several women's championships. She played golf to the age of 90.

Rita also enjoyed travel, family get togethers, and sewing. She made most of her own clothing including suits and coats.

Rita is survived by her sister Eileen and her husband George Dobbins of Meredith, NH, several nieces and nephews, and Ted Janus a long time friend and companion.

Arrangements- Funeral services will be private. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Bridget's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The Slater Funeral Home, 242 South Main Street, Cheshire is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial Contributions in Rita's name may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
