CHESHIRE- Philomena "Phyllis" Kusmit, 92, formerly of West Haven passed away Tuesday March 22, 2011 at The Highlands Health Care Center in Cheshire. She was the devoted wife of the late Michael Kusmit.

She was born October 16, 1918 in New Haven, the daughter of the late Antonio and Rafaela (Ruoppolo) Bottone.

Mrs. Kusmit was a devout Catholic originally from West Haven, moving to Cheshire in 2003. She had a heart of gold. Her life was one of kindness and always caring for others and she was an inspiration for her courage and strength. She loved to cook, enjoyed family gatherings as well as music and dancing. She will always be known as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Philomena will be deeply and sadly missed by all those she touched.

The family wishes to thank all that have helped her in countless ways over the last several years.

Mrs. Kusmit is survived by her son William Kusmit and his wife Laura of Seymour; her daughter Nanette Innes and her husband Dan of Cheshire; her step brother Frank Amatruda of North Haven; her two grandchildren David Kusmit and Michelle Walsh and her husband Sean; two great grandchildren Sarah, and Chloe; brothers and sisters in law; and many special nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother Cosmo "Gus" Bottone; her two sisters Marjorie Fronte, Marie Ferrara; and her step sister Louise Amatruda.

Arrangements- Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 26, 2011 at St. Bridget Church 175 Main St., Cheshire 11 a.m. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Kusmit's name may be made to Masonicare Home Health and Hospice, 33 North Plains Industrial Road, Wallingford, CT 06492.
