Waterbury – Penelope (Diamont) Lessack, 94, was reunited with her husband in heaven on Sunday, August 4, 2019. She was the wife of the late Harry Lessack, who passed away in December, 1980.

Penelope was born July 22, 1925, in Naugatuck, a daughter of the late Thomas and Anna (Von Fritz) Diamont. She was a graduate of Naugatuck High School and later attended Mattatuck Community College.

Penelope interests included church, painting, music, singing, and flower gardening. She won 1st place at the Bethlehem Fair for her art and was a fitness instructor at The Girl’s Club of Waterbury. She enjoyed travelling, recalling a great trip she made to Austria. In church, she sang in the choir and was a communion server. She also enjoyed her time at the Middlebury Convalescent Home where she won 1st place in bingo, bowling, horse shoes and shuffle board.

Penelope was proud of her sons, the late attorney Ross Lessack and Dr. Paul Lessack of Bethlehem. She also loved her nephew, Raymond, who spent six hours a day with her at the Middlebury Convalescent Home, and will also be missed by her grandchildren, Amanda and Daniel Lessack. She was predeceased by her brother, George Diamont, and her sisters, Ellen Fernandes, Shelia Concalves and Olga Rogers.

Arrangements – A private service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, Oakville. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations in Penelope’s name may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church, 262 Main St, Oakville, CT, 06779.
