Cheshire – Noreen (Renee) O’Rourke Hockert, 89, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 25, 2018, surrounded by her loving children. She was born July 30, 1929, in Waterbury, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Mollie McKenna) O’Rourke.

She is preceded in death by her husband Arthur Hockert, her brothers, Cornelius and John O’Rourke and her sisters, Ann Tehan and Mary Spellman.

Noreen graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in 1951. She was a dedicated Registered Nurse who touched the lives of many. Noreen was loved by all who knew her for her kind, compassionate, and loving nature. Noreen retired in 1994 after a very successful career at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut.

Aside from her nursing, Noreen was very proud of her Irish heritage. She loved Irish dancing, music and St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. Noreen was also a lifetime member of the A.O.H. Ladies Auxiliary.

Noreen, a proud and loving mother is survived by her cherished son Raymond of Cheshire, and four daughters, Elizabeth Cameron and husband Joe of Waterbury, Mary Lou Castiglione and husband Carmine of Southington, Noreen Hockert- Bennett of Cheshire and Sheila Pyskaty and husband Tom of Wallingford. She is also survived by her brother Patrick (Bobby) O’Rourke and wife Carol of Waterbury.

She will be deeply missed by her thirteen grandchildren, Tim, Maura, Paul, Michael, George, Timothy, Shannon, Raymond, Brittany, Carmine, Molly “her sunshine”, Mary Lou and James along with several great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Arrangements - Friends may greet Noreen’s family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 from 8:45 A.M. until 9:30 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St, Cheshire at 10 A.M. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury.
