CHESHIRE - Mary C. Hauser Tranquist, 81, passed away on December 28, 2013 at Masonicare in Wallingford after fighting a valiant battle with ovarian cancer. Mary was the daughter of the late John Charles Hauser and Helen Young Barnett Barber Hauser of Hamden, Ct.

Mary worked throughout her life beginning as a librarian assistant in Hamden, CT. She was a talented seamstress and Singer sewing machine instructor during high school, a secretary at the University of Florida during the early years of her marriage, a salesperson at Home Fabric Mills and a book keeper for numerous years at Ravenswood Realtors and Tilcon Tomasso as she worked her way though college and helped support her family.

Mary graduated Magma Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in Accounting from Quinnipiac College in 1982 and worked as an accountant at UMC, Condaire, Hutschenreuther and Spectrum, Inc. until retiring at the age of 62. Mary's favorite pastime was gardening, especially growing test roses for Jackson and Perkins. She was an avid reader.

Mary is survived by her sons Arnold R. Tranquist Jr. and his wife Jacquelyn Delay and Eric A. Tranquist and his wife Patricia Tranquist; her daughters Catherine A. Donegan and her husband William E. Donegan Jr. and Christine A. Tranquist; her sister Anne Sprague and her former husband Arnold R. Tranquist; her 8 grandchildren, William and Steven Donegan, Morgan and Shawn Tranquist, John, Robert, Jeffrey and Ashley Tranquist. Besides her parents, Mary is predeceased by sisters Dorothy Warner and Beatrice Hauser.

Arrangements - Funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held on Monday December 30, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. Memorial contributions may be made to the Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care, 267 Finch Ave., Meriden, CT 06451.
