Mary Ann Branciforte, age 87, of Cheshire entered into rest on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Masonicare in Wallingford. She was the devoted wife of her “knight in shining armor” the late Edward A. Branciforte for over 64 years. Mary Ann was born on August 12, 1933 in Meriden, daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Macari) Erardi.

Mary was raised in Meriden and Southington, where she lived and worked with her family on a dairy farm. Mary Ann met Ed on a blind date that she luckily switched from her sister, Lucille, and soon after they began their own family. She worked as a secretary for CT Valley Hospital in Middletown, and enjoyed summers with the entire family in Old Saybrook at her family’s cottage. Mary Ann will be remembered for her dedication to and love for her family.

Mary is the beloved mother of Barbara Nelson and her husband, Michael of Redding; Anthony Branciforte and his wife, Denise of Hebron; Edward Branciforte and his wife, Wendy of Lebanon; and Richard Branciforte and his wife, Beth of Portland. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Jessica, Anthony Jr., Megan, Edward III, Nick and Robbie; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Bentley, Craig, Gavyn, Isla, Mason, Charlotte, and great-grandchild #7 expected in June; her dear sister, Lucille Handle of Cheshire; her treasured nieces, Debbie Guarino of Cheshire and Sharon Famiglietti of East Hampton and many other adored nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her sister, Gloria Dawson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 10AM in St. Bridget of Sweden Parish-St. Bridget Church, 175 Main Street, Cheshire, CT 06410. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Entombment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Gypsy Lane, Meriden. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, at www.stjude.org The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire has been entrusted with her arrangements.
