Maria Schatz

CHESHIRE - Maria Schatz, 88, passed away Thursday January 19, 2012 at Mid State Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Johann H. Schatz.

Maria was born on January 1, 1924, and came to the United States from Germany in 1952. She was a Seamstress and dressmaker in New Haven County. She was also the owner of Mitz's Fashion Shoppe in New Haven in the late 1960's. She loved to sew, knit, make dolls, do arts and crafts and bake, but her passion was working in her garden; tending to her vegetables and flowers. Her favorites were her red rose, for her late husband Johann.

Maria Schatz is survived by her son, Ginter E. Schatz and his wife Diane of Cheshire, their children: Shannon, Ismael Biurrun of R.I. and Michael Roberts Jr. of Hamden. She is also survived by grandchildren Treavor J., Kristofer, Tamra Schatz and several great grandchildren.

Arrangements - Calling hours for Maria will be held Thursday January 26, 2012 from 5 to 7 P.M at The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street, 06410.
