WATERBURY- Margaret Ruth Leggett, 96, passed away Sunday December 14, 2014 at the Abbott Terrace Health Center.
Ruth was born April 14, 1918 in Waterbury daughter of the late Walter and Johanna (Allman) Leggett.
She was a graduate of the College of Notre Dame in Maryland, Class of 1940. She was employed as a Teacher in the Waterbury School System prior to her retirement. She thoroughly enjoyed her long career teaching the children of Waterbury.
Ruth is survived by her cousins Patricia (Allman) LeVine of Colleyville Texas and Frances (Allman) Schuetz, of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, their 9 children, 26 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
She was energetic, generous, intelligent, positive, independent and full of passion everyday of her 96 years. She was a role model for all of us and she was dearly loved and cherished by all of us. She was a very special person and we were so blessed to have known her.
Arrangements- A Mass of Christian Burial for Ruth will be held 10 A.M, Friday December 19, 2014 at The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Church, 74 West Main Street, Waterbury, 06702. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The Alderson- Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave, 06710 is assisting with arrangements. Donations in her name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
