NAUGATUCK- Leander “Barney” E. Barnes, 70, passed away Monday October 6, 2014 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the loving husband of Sharon E. (Brown) Barnes.
He was born March 5, 1944 in Charleroi, PA son of the late Leander G. and Betty (Owens) Barnes.
Barney was a Veteran of The United States Marine Corp. He was employed at Stuart EFI where he was a Truck Driver and worked in the Warehouse Department prior to his retirement.
Besides his wife Barney is survived by two daughters Michele and her husband Joe Hubbell of Naugatuck, and Traci and her husband Mike Skinner of Bristol; his father-in-law Merton Brown of Naugatuck; his sister-in-law Linda and her husband Steve Sody of Torrington; four grandchildren Jamie and Barbara Skinner, Ashley Ardry, and Samantha Hubbell; one great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Phyliss Porter.
Arrangements- A Funeral Service for Barney will be held 6 P.M, Thursday October 9, 2014, at The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow Street, 06770. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held from 5 P.M until the service starts at the funeral home. Donations in his name may be made to the VA Medical Center, 950 Campbell Ave, West Haven, CT, 06516.
