CHESHIRE – Kenneth R. Swan, 59, passed away peacefully Monday February 20, 2017 at his home with his wife and children by his side. He was the beloved husband of Diane Castaldi.

Ken was born December 24, 1957, in New Haven, the son of the late Frederick and Gloria (Frisco) Swan. He was raised in West Haven where he attended local schools, and is a graduate of the University of New Haven’s Criminal Justice Program. He, his wife, and children moved to Cheshire in 2001 after residing in New Haven. He worked as an Investigator for the State of Connecticut’s Office of Protection & Advocacy for Persons with Disabilities and was committed to advocating for, and improving the lives of adults with Intellectual Disabilities.

Besides his wife, Ken is survived by his children Aria Swan and her husband Samuel Kaplowitz of Cheshire and Lucas Swan of Cheshire; his grandchildren Isaac and Stella “Bean”; his sisters Marilyn Swan of West Haven and Elizabeth Parmelee (Dana) of Cheshire; loving in-laws and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Frederick “Rick” Swan.

Ken’s greatest joy in life were his children; he was a devoted father and became a loving grandfather. He was an avid sports fan, who also enjoyed film, books, music, and theatre.

Arrangements – A Memorial service will be held March 4, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 59 Main St., Cheshire. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family and there are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to The Connecticut Hospice Inc. 100 Double Tree Road Branford, CT. 06405. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

The Swan family would like to express their thanks to the Physicians and Nurses at Yale Cancer Center, and Smilow Cancer Hospital for the care and support they provided to Kenneth.
