John 'Jack' Parker

Waterbury ' Rev. John "Jack" W. Parker, 86, of Waterbury, passed away September 12, 2009 at his home in Waterbury. He was the husband of the late Marjorie L. Parker.

Fr. Parker was born June 3, 1923 in Fitchburg, MA the son of the late Verne C. and Dorothy A. (Sulton) Parker. He was raised in Fitchburg where he was educated in the local school system. He continued his education at Trinity College in Hartford where he obtained his Bachelors in 1949. Fr. Parker furthered his education and obtained his Masters in Library Science at Columbia University in 1951 and received his Master of Divinity in 1961 from Episcopal Theological School in Cambridge, MA. He was the Rector for both St. Mark's and Trinity Churches until his retirement in 1988.

Fr. Parker is survived by his son David A. Parker and his wife Debbie of Santa Fe, NM; his daughters Susan E. Parker of Torrington, Cindy J. Seguin and her husband Bill of New Preston, and Carol A. Walters and her husband Bill of Plymouth; his sister Patricia Adams of Biddeford, ME; three grandchildren Alyssa, Nicole and Sabrina; his nieces Deborah and Sally and his nephew Steve.

Arrangements ' A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday October 17, 2009 at 1 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church 16 Church St., Waterbury with friends being received in the church library from 12:30 until the time of service. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family and there are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, Rector's Discretionary Fund, 16 Church St., Waterbury, CT 06702. The Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury 9 Holmes Ave. is in charge of arrangements.
